Off page optimization

Like On page optimization, Off page optimization is also a part of SEO process but there is a huge difference between these. It is done off site for maximizing its performance in search engines for target keywords related to the web content. In other words it is the method of getting links to your page. A website owner wants as many links (inbound links & back links) to his page as possible that include the keyword that he is optimizing for.

Some of the techniques that come under Off page optimization include:

1- Social bookmarking
2- Article and directory submissions
3- Blog commenting
4- Classified ads
5- Press releases
6- Forum posting
7- Online groups
8- Link Building Services and social bookmarking.

It assists us in achieving, maintaining and improving the rank by tagging major competitive keywords and this is the reason why most of the organizations look for Off page optimization. To gain good rank in Google is not so easy for competitive keywords without doing efforts for it and it needs to work for building links that point to your website. And it’s necessary to bear in mind that as much as links you will have, the more search engines will rate your website. Website owners can check the number of sited linking to their own site by making use of IBL checker, which allow them to see which sites have linked to them as recognized by the search engines like Google, yahoo and MSN.

Anchor text also plays an important part for rating the keywords. It can be the biggest factor as it allows search engines to determine the relevance of the linked page to the keyword in the anchor text. It is normally used to tell the readers the subject matter of the page that it links to and provides a way to rate the keywords for your website. Though Anchor text is important, but examining the text surrounding the link can also assist because everyone doesn’t link to a page using the exact keyword. Some people use one or two words, or sometimes more generic “click here” anchor text.

Not to forget optimizing your internal pages as well but don’t link your main page with all your keywords. For instance, if you own a site selling flower bouquets (flower arrangement) and one of your internal page is about flower delivery then is it better for you to optimize your main page for "flower delivery " instead optimizing your main page for the keyword "flower bouquet" and your internal page for the words "flower delivery" or "bouquet delivery". By doing so your site will rank for more terms and will get better results for different searches.
